Blenderstorm BETA

For some time I have been working on bringing back Blenderstorm, along side my current main project (Naali development, integrating Verse as a tech demo, which will be cool for another post next week). I’ve now put up a test site at http://beta.blenderstorm.org, where I invite people to register, testdrive the site and report obvious bugs in functionality (SQL errors, things like that).

Next to bug hunting the single biggest task is still ahead: themeing of Blenderstorm. I ask readers to propose designs (maybe even … Continue Reading

Blender 2.5 r25969 – COLLADA bugfix

Hi, again several hundred commits since my previous build. This build has of course a whole slew of fixes, new features and such. See the file with the log containingchanges from 25772 to 25969 for all the details.

For those interested in COLLADA there’s a fix by Arystan that addresses some rotation issues and naming issues.

Further there are fixes for crashers (opening properties window could crash, projection painting on subsurf or multires could crash. And there’s fixes for existing, but broken functionality, like edge slide after loop cut when face select mode was enabled.

Blender 2.5 r25000

Blender development has surpassed 25000 commits! Mike Pan shows a nice graph of the development on his blog. I had yesterday created some builds to celebrate r25000, but I “forgot” to upload and publish them. So for those who still want r25000 win32 and win64 builds, do download here:

These are 7z self-extracting archives, built with the same settings as Blender 2.5 alpha 0.

I would also like to thank all the people who took the time to comment on the Blender 2.5 alpha 0 message. Most of the problems will be … Continue Reading

COLLADA merged with trunk, Blender 2.5

Arystan Dyussenov has finally managed to merge the GSoC COLLADA branch to trunk. I have been fighting with a broken-ish build environment and the OpenCOLLADA libraries since then.

First, many days were wasted in figuring out why during linking of the first library of OpenCOLLADA the build process would go in an eternal loop, issueing linking commands for the same library over and over again. After having tried different SCons versions, and several futile hacks of the SCons-files of the project, I took a harder look at my own environment.

We have had some talk about having ie. gstreamer as … Continue Reading

Blog finally back up

So, slowly I’m getting all my sites back up and running. This blog is now too up and running, albeit with a default WordPress theme. But that I can address later.

Still missing from this particular site is the Wiki PDF downloads, but I hope to get those bits and pieces reinstalled during the end of this week.

Blender Wiki PDF – Manual from January 29th, 2009

Marco Ardito has sent me a new version of the Manual PDF, which is based on the wiki. This version brings Blender Manual PDF up-to-date with 2009.01.29.

Again a big thanks to Marco Ardito for his efforts.

Blender Wiki PDFs – December 2008

The PDF updates seem to become a nice monthly deal! Marco has uploaded new versions of 4 PDF files:

Updated Wiki PDFs by Marco Ardito for Blender 2.48a

Again Marco Ardito has been working hard on getting new versions of his Wiki PDFs. After more tweaking, he has managed to drop the size of the manual pdf to 25MB. Compare that to the size of the first PDF he created, which was a whopping 86MB! Enjoy reading the new PDFs!

Wiki PDFs: Manual, Reference, Scripts Catalog, Release Log

Marco Ardito has been working hard on getting improved versions of his Wiki PDFs, along with a few extra. He managed to drop the size and page number of the manual pdf to 51MB over almost 1300 pages:
